Overview T
Timothy
It is a typical tall grass of our native meadows and pastures and is very popular as a tall grass for cutting. It is particularly important in horse pastures because its sugar content is lower compared to ryegrasses. However, it is unsuitable for overseeding mixtures, as it develops more slowly at first than ryegrasses and is therefore displaced.
Chopped timothy hay is significantly softer than chopped alfalfa stalks. As coarse alfalfa chaff is suspected of promoting gastric ulcers in horses in the area of the stomach outlet, timothy chaff is a good, stomach-friendly alternative.
