Sulphur
While sulphur in exhaust fumes still led to acid rain and excessive soil enrichment in the 1980s, sulphur is now found in much lower concentrations in the air and soil in Germany. Not so in Iceland, where the sulphur content of the soil is inherently higher due to its volcanic origin. Sulphur is a vital element and is often underestimated. Although the body only needs it in minimal amounts, the necessary amount is not always supplied through feed. In case of deficiency, the body can become susceptible to infections, inflammation and even signs of ageing.
