Linseed
Linseeds are classed as oilseeds due to their high oil content of 30% to 45%. Of all vegetable oils, the valuable linseed oil contains the highest levels of unsaturated, essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid (omega-6) and the important alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3). Linseed also contains high-quality protein, healthy mucilage, natural vitamin E, B vitamins, minerals such as phosphorous, and the trace element selenium.
The mucilage is good for the stomach and gut lining. Linseed stimulates natural digestion and supports skin and coat. For this reason, linseed is often fed during the change of coat and in cases of digestive upset.
