Anise
Aniseed contains flavonoids and essential oils. The latter give aniseed its sweetish taste. Aniseed in feed supports the liquefaction of mucus in the airways, which may facilitate coughing up. The oil of the seeds also increases the secretion of the digestive glands and bile in the horse and is soothing for cramps in the digestive tract.
