Growth that is gentle on the metabolism from the very start: to support your foal and provide optimum nutrition throughout this phase, our stable family has developed marstall Fohlen-Aktiv with great care – low in starch, easily digestible and particularly palatable.
Fohlen-Aktiv is a grain-free muesli for foals from the second week of life.
Optimum nutrient utilisation and intake was our goal: our foal feed promotes this thanks to organic trace elements, mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS) and the pure* amino acids lysine, methionine and threonine. Fohlen-Aktiv supports the immune system of your new arrival and is gentle on the stomach – because even the youngest horses experience stressful times, such as at foal shows, during weaning and when changing feed in autumn and spring.
Our special combination of small-intestine-digestible amino acids compensates in a needs-based way for the loss of nutritious mare's milk and the low levels found in typical horse hay. Our formulation is rounded off by a balanced supply of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc and manganese support the development of the foal's joints and bones. Organic selenium from selenium yeast and organic zinc improve its vitality and immune defences.
Since large amounts of starch can disrupt the insulin system and metabolism of foals, we have formulated Fohlen-Aktiv as grain-free and therefore as low in starch as possible.
*The foundational studies on foal rearing at LMU Munich, supported by marstall, were incorporated into the current recommendations of the GfE (2014). One of the studies showed that the targeted supply of certain essential amino acids had significantly positive effects on growth and bone development. In addition, the burden on the liver and kidneys was lower than with increased soya feeding (Krumbiegel, 2011). The amino acid blend is formulated based on these findings.
Tip 1
As studies show, excessive insulin disrupts the maturation of cartilage cells and therefore bone quality. An elevated insulin concentration, triggered by high starch intake per meal, can therefore negatively affect the foal's growth, insulin sensitivity and metabolism. The development of OCD is also promoted. Researchers therefore recommend a low-starch and thus grain-free feed.
Tip 2
Our stable family also very much enjoys using marstall Fohlen-Aktiv to prepare for the transition from pasture to stable. marstall Fohlen-Aktiv can be an excellent option for making this transition gentle.
