Brewer’s yeast
Brewer’s yeast is a high-quality source of crude protein and provides the horse with plenty of easily digestible essential amino acids, in particular the sulphur-containing amino acid methionine. Alongside valuable B vitamins, it also contains important minerals such as phosphorous and magnesium, as well as the trace elements copper, zinc and selenium.
Brewer’s yeast, also known as saccharomyces cerevisiae, is a so-called “dead yeast” and originates from beer production. It is generally fed as dried yeast and should not be confused with live yeast or baker’s yeast. Brewer’s yeast supports the coat change, the skin and helps in cases of feeding-related diarrhoea or watery droppings*. When further processed, the highly purified cell walls of brewer’s yeast, known as MOS, benefit the natural function of the immune system and gut.
*In cases of diarrhoea, watery droppings or other signs of illness, please consult a veterinarian.
