Dried grape pomace
Dried grape pomace refers to the by-product obtained during the production of grape juice. Stalks and pips have largely been removed from the grapes. The delicious marc therefore consists predominantly of valuable dietary fibre such as pectin from the grape skins. The skins are also characterised in particular by their high polyphenol content.
Polyphenols provide excellent support for the natural function of the gut. Resveratrol, for example, is famous as the “active substance in red wine”. In animal nutrition, positive properties of dried grape pomace in the gut have been demonstrated (Gessner et al., 2013)
