Overview C
Cysteine
Cysteine can be produced from methionine. As such, it is not actually considered an essential amino acid. However, since an insufficient supply of cysteine leads to a deficiency in the essential amino acid methionine, the requirement or content in the feed is stated for both sulphur-containing amino acids (SAS) together (met+cys).
