Overview C
Collagen
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. It is the stabilising structural protein of connective tissue, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and bones. Skin layers also consist of collagen. The individual collagen fibres have enormous tensile strength and are barely stretchable. They are specifically structured to withstand the enormous forces acting upon them. The amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline occur very frequently in collagen.
