Chokeberries
Aronia berries (also known as chokeberries or black chokeberries) originate from North America, where they have already been used as a medicinal plant for various purposes. Today, aronia berries are also grown in Germany, among other places.
The fresh berries have the highest antioxidant capacity of all berries and fruits known to date. Due to their high levels of secondary plant compounds such as polyphenols, chokeberries are potent radical scavengers, thereby supporting the natural function of the immune system and the body’s defences. Aronia also contains high levels of zinc, potassium, ß-carotene and many other minerals and vitamins.
